    Microsoft Recite Technology Preview

There is a technology preview available for Microsoft Recite - an easy way to remember, search and retrieve mental notes and reminders.

Microsoft Recite is a search technology for your voice that runs on Windows Mobile* devices. With Microsoft Recite, you can use your voice to easily store, search and retrieve the things you want to remember, where and when you need them. Microsoft Recite is available as a free technology preview beginning February 16, 2009.

Microsoft Recite can be used on devices running Windows Mobile version 6.0 or higher.

    How Does It Work?

Microsoft Recite’s voice search makes it easy to retrieve your stored thoughts and notes by using voice pattern matching. It analyzes the patterns in your speech and finds matches between two recordings -- the notes you stored on your phone, and the search you do using your voice. With Recite you can store thousands of spoken notes, and then later retrieve the notes you want based on a match with your search term(s). This is different from speech recognition, which has to accurately convert spoken words to application-readable input.

Press “Remember” to record a thought.

Press “Search” to retrieve your thoughts. It’s that simple!

Will be interesting to see how this compares to the recordable notes that are already built into WM. THis looks like it might be easier to access and use. Downloading now.

Works well and the search feature works very well. I don't like that as far as i can tell there is no way to remove old notes you don't need any more. Am I missing something?

Scroll to the note you want to delete with the directional pad, then right arrow to highlight the tiny little "X" and press the center select button.  Apparently there's no way to "tap" the delete key on the touch screen.  I guess since this is a "tech preview" they've essentially made it a "lowest common denominator" app for both touch and non-touch devices by eliminating touchscreen functionality.

    Re: Microsoft Recite Technology Preview

Hi, all - I just got a tip about updates to the Recite Technology Preview. Apparently, the team has issued a new version that supports more phones, solves some issues outside the US, and supports touchscreens! Sounds like this project is going strong!

You can download and learn more here: http://recite.microsoft.com/Pages/index.aspx

Definitely give this one a try, and tell us what you think!

    Hello,

I've been using Recite from about a week and I really like it! funny to leave message on your phone and search by saying some keywords...there is kind of scroll bar that indicate wether it's a good result or not of your search!

Remember the old dictaphone gadgets (not sure of the english name).....but with a search feature Wink
