Laura Rooke:
I am still concerned about using My Phone. The last time I used it ,when I added a second phone, it duplicated my contacts both on web on phone and in Outlook.
There is a "remove duplicates" option in the web portal, but I'm leery of adding multiple phones as well. I added my old phone to test remote wipe with, and after the old phone uploaded its old photos and documents to MyPhone, they synced back to my current phone, forcing me to slog through a bunch of old files and delete them!
(I should've created a new Hotmail/Live/MyPhone account for the second phone, but I was being lazy!)
As I've mentioned before in a few sync threads, multiple syncing "engines" connecting to multiple sync sources on multiple devices is asking for trouble. Ideally, you should've wiped out the contacts from the second phone, and let MyPhone populate the phone with the data, which would've come (originally) from the first phone.
In essence, you (personally, as someone with a bushel basket of Windows Phones!) could use MyPhone to keep all of your WM6+ devices in sync with Outlook on your main PC without physically connecting them all: sync your main phone (the Advantage or the Pure, you decide!) with Outlook like you always do, then add it to a fresh (empty!) MyPhone account, which will upload all of its PIM data to MyPhone. Now wipe the PIM data from the other WM6 phones (by deleting their Outlook partnerships) and add them to the same MyPhone account. This way, they'll be syncing once a day with the "master" phone via MyPhone, and never have to sync directly with your PC again. Only the master device would ever have to physically connect to the PC.
