    It's Our Birthday Bash Sweepstakes!

Enter Until June 9, 2009, for a Chance to Win One of Five Windows Mobile Phones!

The Connection is officially one year old, and in honor of all of you who have helped us get this far, we’re giving away five Windows Mobile phones in our “Birthday Bash” Sweepstakes!

    To participate:

    1. Take a quick trip down memory lane and find a post here on the forum that helped you with selling or supporting the sales of Windows Mobile phones, or that simply helped you learn something about Windows Mobile in general. In other words, browse your favorite posts and choose one that helped you!
    2. Then, copy and paste a line or two from your chosen post here in the sweepstakes thread, and feel free to add a link back to the original post so others will be able to check it out. This way, we’ll have a really cool listing of some of the Connection’s “greatest hits” of the past year.

At the end of the entry period (which closes June 9, 2009), we’ll randomly select five winners from among all those people who’ve posted to this thread. Winners will receive their choice of a current Windows Mobile phone ($500 or less, U.S. and Canada only) or a $500 gift card! We'll also be giving away Windows Mobile-branded merchandise to another 15 lucky winners.

Remember: You have to post into this thread (just click Reply) for a chance to win, and you have to be registered on the Connection to post. If you need to register, click Join at the top of the page and follow the sign-up steps with your Windows Live ID.

Thanks for playing, and thanks for a year of great Windows Mobile knowledge!

The sweepstakes is open to Connection members from the United States or the District of Columbia, Canada (excluding Quebec), the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, France, Denmark, or Italy. You can check out the official sweepstakes terms and conditions here. If you have any questions about the sweepstakes, please contact us.

WOW - this is a great competition.

    My personal favorite thread is

Windows Mobile Devices in the Medical World .

It's great to know that WM devices can offer such amazing functionality.

Re: It's Our Birthday Bash Sweepstakes!

I picked up a little "Father of the Year" help from this post,

Wanna play arcade games?    , from August '08.

"1. Download these files from http://www.htcwizardweb.net/node/323
         fmodce.zip, PocketGBA.zip..." etc.

Whenever my kids and I are stuck somewhere "boring", like the doctor's waiting room, and we don't have the usual kid-diversion devices (Zunes, Nintendo DSes, etc.) with us, I can now entertain them with my WinMo phone running the "real" handheld games they're used to, (instead of hearing "I wish Mom was here with her iPhone!")

Sure, it's not "help" on the level of getting a device to sync with 7 PCs, or getting a Remote Desktop connection to work from behind a firewall, perhaps, but any dad trying to keep a 5 year old entertained at 2AM in an Emergency Room when 800 miles from home, knows it's just as important!  Wink

Re: It's Our Birthday Bash Sweepstakes!

Well, I was going to use the post about all the mobile friendly sites, but it has been moved out of the forum and into the help and info section.

So I decided to use Top 40 Best Free Windows Mobile Apps. I have demonstrated some of these apps for customers and they are very impressed. They are usually supprised by the fact that Windows Mobile phones have apps, but I set them straight.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone here that posts such great information.

Live Mesh ... One Year Later

I also use myPhone and really those 2 tools are for different uses : For contact sync : only MyPhone do this, having contacts sync with windows live, MyPhone is here to have another alternative backup solution For calendar backup : MyPhone is really nice (and have some funny cleaning tools). No way to do sync with windows live calendar today. For files : MyPhone is a little too small, 200MB is really tiny when devices have 4GB inside... Ok you don't need to backup all your music files or video, but for pictures 200MB without a way to choose wich one you wants to sync is a little small. LiveMesh here is really wonderful! You run the tool, choose folders you want to get from the cloud, choose folders you want to add to the cloud and the sync is running (sync with the cloud = backup also).   Bill is right about the "having 2 clouds for same kind of thing" : it should be really really nice to have one huge cloud service with all our contacts (live services), all our calendar (live services also?), all our files shared (live....mesh but should be fun to have this sync tool using our SkyDrive Live Service...).   I don't know what Microsoft has in mind but I think that more and more things are going around the huge Live Platform and I think that other tools are more for specific needs : MyPhone for Backup (not sync, just a backup solution), LiveMesh for sync of files with computers (Mac, PC) and LiveMesh WebSite for your critical files to be always updated, always available online and always sync...

    The Story behind Text messaging

The story of how 160 became the limit for texting was interesting and I've actually brought it up with customers several times.

Re: It's Our Birthday Bash Sweepstakes!

There are so many things that I have learned from this forum and the members it really makes it tough for me, but I will have to choose this post:

Windows Mobile 6 Master Customer Sales Presentation

I remember I was stopping by  to see a friend of  mine who is a lawyer, he wanted a new phone and I was going to talk to him about WM devices. The day before our meeting I found this presentation over at WMT (which that is how I ended up here in the first place). and I customized this presentation. I was soooo excited, during our meeting one lawyer stopped in and mentioned BB's and I asked him what was their mail server, he said exchange....well I whipped out this presentation and my laptop.

next thing I knew I had a room full of lawyers...my friend just sat there the whole time grinning, to make the a long story short...the lawyer that stopped in was the senior partner in the firm...after I told him how much they would have to spend on a BBE Server and all that...

he said enough....looked at the other lawyers and said we are going with WM Devices with our Exchange server - pick out 15 devices and write him a check and give him a list of accessories we need...needless to say they are very good customers to this day! and I owe it all to this forum and WMT......I still laugh to this day about the meeting wasnt suppose to be a meeting. (needless to say I took my friend to dinner!)

Thanks WMC  & WMT I have learned so much from these forums and people! that not only helps me in my professional life but also in personal life. Plus you ppl are funny too! Wink

When I was personalizing my Samsung Epix, it was super-helpful to reference this list of

End the tethering of devices to a carrier?

If that movement succeeds, that would be just absolutely wonderful. Phones would be able to roam free without the need to tether to a carrier.

Oddly the thread that was most helpful for me isn't that old:

Official Facebook for Windows Mobile: Features and Availability!

The popularity of Facebook opened the door for many a discussion about apps for Windows Mobile with customers. Once the customer and I have established the fact that Windows Mobile has apps too, then the other app-centric forum threads come into play, heavily. Several of them are bookmarked for me actually. Facebook is the gateway app for many of my new customers.
