Our friend Adam Z Lein just posted a great how-to over at Pocketnow.com. The subject: Synchronizing recorded TV shows to your Windows Mobile phone. In a nutshell, here's what the article covers:
"...with
Windows Mobile, you can get ANY TV show automatically synced to your device as
soon as it has been recorded off of your home digital video recorder for free. As
long as you use Windows Media Center, that is. But guess what... if you've
got Windows Vista Home Premium or Ultimate on your computer, you're almost
already there. All you need is a Windows Media Center compatible TV Tuner.
You can find these TV tuner kits for around $100 and many of them just plug into
the USB port on your computer. Plug the TV tuner into your cable box or
antenna and
you're ready to record your favorite TV shows for free, even if they're not
available on iTunes and without paying a monthly fee for TiVo.
Once set
up, using Windows Media Center to sync recorded TV shows to your
Windows Mobile phone is the easiest way to make your DVR completely
portable. You don't need to buy extra hardware or maintain a
high-speed internet connection in order to stream video from your
home. You can watch TV on the subway even when there's no phone
reception. You don't have to pay for the shows and there's no manual
conversion process. The down sides to this set up are; you've got
commercials to sit through... and Media Center down-samples the videos
to 320x240 pixel resolution, which may be a bit poor on the quality
side if you've got a high resolution screen on your Windows Mobile
device."
Adam provides a complete tutorial on the hardware and software you'll need to pull this off, along with plenty of screenshots to guide you through the process.
